Kisombe and his kitchen have always created delectable and delicious salads but perhaps they may have underestimated the appetite of one of their guests last week. Our table strives to be unique, this remarkable sequence, superbly captured by our manager Naftali is certainly just that. Kicheche Laikipia was not started purely because of rhino, but they played a big part in it; they still do. ‘I’ve been watching the ever-dwindling rhino all across Africa ‘ said a recent octogenarian visitor in February ‘ and this is the best place to see them without doubt.’ We are not going to disagree with him. You are cordially invited to gorge on a few more images of these noble mammals, please bear in mind all were taken within ten (10) minutes of camp.
This high plains stronghold is unusual in Africa as they are still being butchered in many countries, fuelled by the insidious demands of traditional medicine. We are proud to be a part of this impregnable bastion.

This huge white intruder looked as though he might indeed cause a bit of mischief with our lunch table for a while, before he retreated. That day the larger grazing version was the star but really, it doesn’t matter if they are black or white.
