As many of you will know, our three conservancies lost one of their favourite sons this week in Milele. This was tough for many but, just as nature takes away, sometimes she gives too and this week James Nampaso and his generous guests (more of that) were the recipients of Nagol and her 6 (six) 6 (six) week old cubs (Neema’s grandcubs).
This is unquestionably the most precious feline cargo in East Africa right now, perhaps the continent and is in the heart of Olare. Jules and Katie Ingleby were the successful bidders at last year’s 25th celebration, so it is utterly fitting they should be the first to see these new arrivals.
Two days earlier, Kulete’s son, Sadala, had a baptism of fire in his first weeks of independence. Whilst he was relaxing under the escarpment, Olope (10 yrs) breezed in for a spotted scrap. It appeared ferocious, yet the senior cheetah retreated after only three rounds and retired 20 metres away. Sadala taught a valuable lesson, stepping on Olope’s territorial toes in Olare Motorogi Conservancy.
A remarkable few days : such is the allure of these priceless conservancies. Such is the allure of tiny, TINY cheetah cubs.
