Eight years ago, Josphat began his journey with Kicheche as a talented mechanic, keeping our Landcruisers running smoothly. With remarkable drive and determination, he shifted gears, graduated from Koyaki Guiding School, and proudly earned his KPSGA Silver badge in 2019.
Today, Josphat is one of our most sought-after guides, affectionately nicknamed “Lucky” for his uncanny ability to spot the most elusive of cats – the leopard. Guests often find that with Josphat, their game drives hold just that extra touch of magic.
Saruni - meaning “a place of help” - is Julius Ronko’s second name, and it reflects the spirit he brings to every safari. Often underestimated at first glance, Julius quickly proves that true wisdom is not measured by size or age, but by depth of knowledge and a keen connection to the land. From the moment a drive begins, his understanding of the bush unfolds like the plains at sunrise.

Starting his journey at Kicheche Valley Camp in housekeeping, he quickly embraced every role with dedication, from setting up wild camping experiences to guest transfers. Over time, his confidence and knowledge grew, shaping him into a skilled and engaging guide. Today, Jamlex shares his passion for the bush with guests, bringing both expertise and heart to every safari experience.
Albert is celebrated for his deep ecological knowledge and exceptional tracking skills. Known for his warm personality and “eagle eyes,” he creates immersive wildlife encounters across the plains of Laikipia and the foothills of Mount Kenya. If this experienced man represents the future of the Mara, we’re in very safe hands. A brilliant silver-certified guide with ambitions to shine even brighter, Mika is a true gem in our team. He has a rare ability to hold engaging conversations with a full vehicle, sip his chai, navigate bumpy granite—and still spot a hidden leopard cub.
A top graduate of the guiding school proudly sponsored by Kicheche, Bernard is truly homegrown from Ole Sere, with the Mara Naboisho Conservancy as his own backyard. He brings a deep pride in the conservancy’s success and a sharp eye for the details that make each safari special. Renowned as a fantastic birder, Bernard is also known for his “Spot of the Week” highlights, sharing remarkable sightings and moments that showcase the richness of the Mara’s wildlife and landscapes.

An exceptionally popular guide, Jimmy combines hard work with an extraordinary talent for spotting wildlife. From vibrant bee-eaters to elusive serval and playful hyena pups, nothing escapes his keen eyes. Born and raised in Ole Sere in the heart of the Maasai Mara, John Saningo Naingisa’s connection to wildlife began in childhood, herding livestock and encountering wild animals as part of daily life. Those early experiences sparked a deep curiosity, leading him to learn the Maa names and behaviors of the species around him.
