Endangered species enclosure visit

The last remaining animals of this species were translocated to Ol Pejeta Conservancy and it is hoped will create the nucleus of a successful breeding program. In addition to the two female Northern White Rhinos, it is home to a number of endangered species including the locally threatened Jackson’s hartebeest and Grevy’s zebra.

Available for Kicheche Laikipia guests twice daily at 0830 and 1600hrs.

Chimpanzee Sanctuary back of house visit

Enjoy a unique opportunity of viewing chimpanzees behind the scenes and learn more about the day to day care of the chimpanzees. Get exclusive access and see the chimpanzees during their feeding time and as they engage in enrichment activities within their enclosures.

This activity is available for Kicheche Laikipia guests twice a day between 12.00 – 1.00 PM and in the evening from 5.00 – 6.00 PM. $40pp, bookable in advance.

Mara Elephant Project visit

Kicheche Mara Camp guests have the opportunity to experience first-hand, the complicated relations between poaching and Human- Elephant conflict in the Mara ecosystem. We have teamed up with Mara Elephant Project to showcase MEP’s important work: reducing the poaching levels, and minimizing the conflict and challenges to livelihood of the local community.

This activity will take 2 – 3 hours including an overview of the Project and programmes, explaining the GPS satellite tracking system and tracking some of the MEP’s collared elephants within reasonable proximity of their headquarters or Kicheche Mara Camp. Bookable in advance at $100 per person donation. (Min 2 pax, children under 12 free).
