Laikipia Active » Kicheche Camps » Masai Mara - Laikipia

Kicheche Laikipia offers a marvelous opportunity to try something different while on an African safari adventure or Kenya holiday. Visit the last remaining Northern White Rhinos on the planet, canoe on the waterhole in front of camp, understand anti-poaching dogs, walk and wild camp, jump from the waterfall in the Ngare Ndare or cycle across the Ol Pejeta Plains.

Canoeing

The little lake in front of Kicheche Laikipia Camp offers the unique opportunity of canoeing just in the middle of the reserve with a chance of viewing the animals coming to drink.

ngare ndare excursion

A full day trip to the beautiful Ngare Ndare Forest located outside Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Kicheche Laikipia gives you the opportunity to discover this hidden gem, a vital elephant corridor between Mount Kenya and Lewa Conservancy. You will start with a guided walk in the indigenous forest with 200 years old trees that host numerous bird species and a good number of elephants, you will then enjoy a canopy walk which takes you above the trees on a 450m long steel bridge suspended over the tree line and you will refresh in the azure waters of the water falls after a picnic lunch set up by your guide. Back to camp by sunset. Minimum 2 pax. Must be pre-booked.

Laikipia Wild at 2000 meters

If you are keen in experiencing something different and love walking then you don’t want to miss this opportunity. You will be escorted by an armed ranger from Ol Pejeta, along with a Kicheche Silver guide and spend the night in a very private mobile campsite. As the walk is run on an exclusive basis we are very flexible, and you can walk for as little or as long as you would like.

A lightweight private fly-camp will be set up in advance of arrival. Small dome tents for 2 people are equipped with camp beds, bedrolls and a washstand. Basic bathroom facilities will be set up for you, with a long drop toilet and lovely hot bush showers.

Minimum 2 pax, maximum 6.

mountain biking

It is a very different mode of safari on a bicycle, an experience you will remember! Includes a short game drive en-route to the designated riding area and we adapt our ride to your fitness. Allow 3 hours for the excursion.

bush walks

A different perspective is gained through escorted walks on the savannah. Our interpretive guides will point out the spoor of a leopard, the nest of a rare bird or signs of recent migration activity that would pass unnoticed by the eyes of strangers…

If the rest of our trip is as half as good as the 3 days we have been here it will be fantastic. Our first visit to Kenya has been made by everyone here.
Ivor & Anita - UK
The location is stunning overlooking a dam where lots of animals and birds come to drink and bathe. Most lunchtimes we were entertained by elephant, giraffe, buffalo and antelopes as well as the (always noisy) Egyptian geese and pelicans.
Mr & Mrs Chalmers - U.K
This camp was exceptional and was the highlight of the trip for me. Andrew and his team provided an outstanding level of service. I appreciate that service comes at a cost but it was absolutely worth it. We loved the smaller size of the camp and the intimacy of a shared dining table with the other guests. The team at Kicheche went above and beyond with no effort spared. We also loved Ol Pejeta as a conservancy and how we were basically alone for all of our game drives. The information boards and short tours we got at the conservancy HQ were also very informative.
