There is a guide at Bush Camp that answers to ‘mwalimu’ (teacher) but perhaps should be known as ‘mchawi’ (magician). He also answers to Patrick Koriata and is as charming, funny, knowledgeable and perceptive as the very best of them. But, he does not go for chatter, radio or phone, particularly when it comes to leopards. There were any number of recent rumours concerning Tito’s latest brood – ‘they were tiny kittens’, ‘they were virtually grown up’, ‘they were making their own kills’. Eschewing these lazy missives Patrick set off well before dawn to lay some manners on this heresay and conjecture.
Five minutes after a dazzling sunrise he casually pointed out the single parent family and two hours of tears and gasps ensued as they put on a ridiculous floor and tree show.

Around fifteen minutes across the border Jimmy Tinka was not to be outdone as he coaxed one onto the top of a perfect termite. Keen not to miss out Nelangu wandered into Mara Camp just to check on a few tents and new arrivals.
However, just when these two ‘machawis’ thought they had purloined the spotting garlands for the week ,James Nampaso waded in with this ridiculous lion video.

You know what … ? They’re getting quite good at this.
