
In 2008 a single cheetah clambered up the gnarly weathered trunk of a single Boscia deep in the heart of Olare Conservancy. Kicheche Bush Camp was nascent then and this sort of sighting was a thrill as guides felt this was surely the arboreal preserve for leopards.
This lofted position has become a lookout for many cats over the years but NEVER a leopard. Isolated, conspicuous and hard barked, it is not the ideal vantage point nor larder for this dappled predator.
Last week changed all that …. around 20,000 game drives in from his debut, James Nampaso gave Duncan and Sarah (honeymooners) a ridiculous baptism as a hunting Akira retreated to this now-famous landmark.
