Ron 2 and Lokoman honeymooners, Kicheche Valley.
Flying to Kicheche from Brisbane is hardly a short break, regular contributor and multi alumni Bill and Babs Westbook will tell you that with over 200 Kicheche nights to their name, but meet their Queensland neighbours: the Pattearsons. A family of fourteen across three generations. I did meet them, at lunch on their arrival and I have seldom seen such unbridled enthusiasm and anticipation as Andy Corbett gilded a few pre-game drive seducing tales for them.
They just love wildlife and they are prepared to put in a shift to maximise it. Check out these two images, one taken by the Grandfather Chris and the marvellous leopard Nape impeccably caught by 13 year old grandaughter Sarah.
Nape leopard, resident in the Kicheche Valley.
Images like this are not arrived at by coincidence, you need the passion and commitment the Pattersons have and indeed patience, at any age.
They realise wildlife is a marathon, not a sprint and of course Kenyans know all about marathons this week!
Perfect Family Birthday Getaway
For our lovely family of 14 (aged 2 to 70) Kicheche Valley Camp was wonderful. Andy and the team (with Javan,Joyce and Maurice at front end and Bernard, Mika and Benjamin as our awesome guides) could not have been more accommodating. The accommodation was impeccable, the service flawless, the food fabulous and the safari experience beyond compare.
