Consistent rains have drummed along the plains and pastures of the Mara and beyond, ensuring multi-coursed meals for the ruminants when they arrive shortly. Kicheche’s season finished in celebratory fashion. This was an excuse for some ferociously competitive local games witnessed by some delighted guests in Valley Camp. Thank you Marietta, Andy and the whole Valley camp team for hosting this almost festive indaba. Also massive congratulations to the ‘Kicheche 11’ who turned ten years on the day.
Kicheche started in 2000 with eight staff and one small camp. It has grown to four small, gold eco-rated ones. It has not sold out nor veered towards the mainstream with constant corporate eyes slavishly focused on the bottom line. It is owned by the same people who started it. It supports thousands of livelihoods and makes a very soft footprint on its priceless backyard. It is also underwritten by outstanding staff and guests who return year after year from all points on the globe.
Right now we are as excited about the new season as we have ever been. That’s not going to change.
